About LIZA & JOSH

We are a husband-and-wife singing duo who have spent decades entertaining audiences throughout New Jersey.

Our story together actually began with music.

We met in Atlantic City while Liza was performing at the Tropicana, beginning a relationship that would eventually become both a marriage and a musical partnership.

Today, we perform throughout Bergen County, North Jersey, and the surrounding area, bringing an unusually broad mix of music to restaurants, weddings, corporate events, private parties, senior communities, and special events.

Liza: A Lifetime in Entertainment

Liza was performing almost before she was old enough to understand what performing meant.

Growing up on the island of Brigantine, not far from Philadelphia, she appeared on Al Alberts Showcase, the popular Philadelphia television variety program hosted by Al Alberts of The Four Aces. Liza was just three years old when she became one of the show’s young “Teeny Boppers.”

Even then, her natural ability was obvious. In one television appearance, Al and his wife Stella talk about Liza’s remarkable ability to learn a song in a single day before she performs “Second Hand Rose.” She was 4 years old.

That childhood beginning grew into a lifetime in entertainment. From national commercials to a two-year residency at the Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco, to the rock & roll scene of the iconic Sunset Strip in West Hollywood – including Whisky a Go Go and The Viper Room. Her rockstar career would eventually take Liza to Atlantic City, where she performed professionally at the Tropicana.

And that’s where she met Josh.

Today, Liza is an extraordinarily versatile vocalist and performer who can command a room when a song calls for it and become intimate and understated on the very next number. More importantly, she understands audiences – when to turn up the energy, when to let the music complement dinner, and when a room is ready to sing along.

Josh: A Different Kind of Singer

Josh took a very different path to the microphone.

His professional background includes high-end consulting in sales, marketing, advertising, and media production – but he started out as a conservatory-trained actor working in New York – and that acting experience has had an unexpected influence on the way he approaches music.

Josh has a natural ability to pick up the vocal character of the artists whose songs he performs: their phrasing, inflection, timing, and the little nuances that make a familiar song immediately recognizable.

So Billy Joel feels like Billy Joel. Springsteen has a lot of Springsteen in it. Neil Diamond sounds unmistakably like Neil Diamond.

And Elton John doesn’t suddenly sound like the guy who was singing Bon Jovi five minutes earlier. Josh’s Sinatra performances are among the songs audiences ask for most often.

It’s not about doing impressions. It’s about understanding what gives a song – and the artist who made it famous – its personality. Combine that with a slightly ridiculous memory for songs, and you essentially have a human jukebox. Josh is usually the one people try to stump with outrageous song requests.

Our musical home for the past 20 years has been Sanzari's New Bridge Inn in New Milford, New Jersey, where Liza & Josh have maintained a long-running residency.

Twenty years at one restaurant teaches you a lot about live entertainment and hospitality.

You learn how to read a dining room. You learn when the music should take center stage and when it should sit comfortably underneath the conversation.
