Looking for a New Jersey Cover Band?

People searching for outdoor entertainment often start by looking for a Springsteen cover band in NJ, Jersey Shore cover bands, an 80s cover band in NJ, Fleetwood Mac tribute acts or general cover bands in NJ.

We aren’t a tribute band, and we don’t pretend to be one.

But there’s a good chance the reason you’re searching for a cover band isn’t because you want four hours of one artist or one decade. You want live music that people know.

That’s much closer to what we do.

We perform hundreds of recognizable songs spanning generations and genres. We can go from Springsteen to Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Journey and Bon Jovi – and then move into Madonna, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa or whatever else gets the party going.

And because our format combines live vocals with DJ music, we’re not limited to the songs we perform live.

That’s particularly useful at a private party where the guest list might range from 25 to 75 years old. Mom wants Sinatra. Your college friends want ’90s and 2000s. Somebody inevitably requests Springsteen. The kids want something that came out three weeks ago.

We can move between all of it.

The same goes for people searching for a Sinatra party singer in NJ or a Sinatra singer in NY. Sinatra is a natural fit for us – and particularly appropriate here in North Jersey, considering he was born just down the road in Hoboken. The city still celebrates that connection, including a waterfront statue honoring its famous native son.

Outdoor Sound That Actually Sounds Good

Outdoor sound is different from indoor sound.

Inside a restaurant or ballroom, walls and ceilings help contain and reflect sound. Outside, that energy simply keeps traveling. A speaker system that sounds surprisingly powerful indoors can feel very different once you put it in a large backyard or open field.

That’s why we don’t show up to outdoor parties with a couple of tiny speakers and hope for the best.

Our outdoor PA is a robust, high-fidelity system designed to deliver clear, full sound without having to make everything painfully loud. For most outdoor events, it can comfortably accommodate crowds of up to approximately 300 guests, depending on the size and layout of the property.

For larger events, we can supplement our system with rented professional sound equipment.

Our physical footprint, however, remains surprisingly small. That’s one of the advantages of our live singer + DJ format compared with bringing a full band, drum kit, amplifiers and multiple musicians into your backyard.

There is one other consideration that homeowners sometimes overlook: your neighbors.

If you’re hosting a backyard party, it’s worth checking your municipality’s noise rules, particularly if the party will continue into the evening. New Jersey allows municipalities to establish local noise ordinances, including certain local curfew provisions. It may make sense to look up the New Jersey DEP noise and local ordinance information before committing to any outdoor party music in NJ.

What We Need to Perform Outdoors

Outdoor parties don’t require a complicated technical setup, but there are a few things we need to perform safely and reliably.

The basics are access to electrical power, cool drinking water, and adequate overhead cover from direct sun and weather.

For most backyard parties, a standard pop-up tent or canopy works perfectly for shade. On an unusually hot day, a fan to keep air circulating is also greatly appreciated. We bring one ourselves to help keep our equipment cool.

And that equipment is worth protecting.

Our setup includes computers, professional audio equipment, microphones, mixers and powered speakers. In other words, rain and electronics aren’t a particularly good combination.

There is also an important distinction between cover for our equipment and safe shelter during a thunderstorm.

A pop-up tent can protect us from sun and perhaps a passing light shower, but it is not safe shelter from lightning. The National Weather Service advises that there is no safe place outdoors when thunderstorms are nearby and recommends that outdoor events have a plan for moving people into a substantial building or hard-topped vehicle.

You should have knowledge of the National Weather Service outdoor-event lightning safety practices.

So if the forecast looks questionable, having an indoor backup plan is always smart.

We’d much rather move the party inside than discover whether our PA system can swim.

Outdoor PartY Music Throughout North Jersey & the Hudson Valley

One of the things we love about outdoor parties is that there doesn’t necessarily have to be a traditional “venue.”

We’ve performed on patios, under tents, beside pools, in backyards and in outdoor spaces that probably weren’t originally intended to become dance floors.

We perform throughout Bergen County and Northern New Jersey, including Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Paramus, Westwood, Hillsdale, Montvale, Ramsey, Mahwah, Tenafly and the surrounding communities. Cross the New York State line and we’re still pretty close to home. We regularly travel into Rockland County, including Pearl River, Nanuet, New City, Nyack and Suffern, as well as other locations throughout the Hudson Valley.

That’s why we wouldn’t get too hung up on finding the “perfect” outdoor venue. A beautiful backyard can become a venue.
